Rarely will you find me without a cycling cap on. And they are so cheap my collection just seems to keep on growing.

cut the top offa one inna a ragged stylee, and wear it sideways. you must provoke to initiate style, not listen to the naysyers.

doya really care what i ride?

I do, especially after I pull my sweaty helmet off. Current favorite is a yellow/black Clement cap from the early '80s.

What do you think?
Can we wear them around town without looking like a total dork?

How could wearing this be anything other than total style?

I say they look cool. But none of them fit worth a darn..They are so small...Have to rip the seams apart to get it on...I have several..Only two fit fairly well.

and this people whom think likethatshould have a life and get a job.

you look like a dork or a painter... seriously, if you really care about not looking like a dork, don't go outside your house. Somebody will think you're a dork no matter what you wear.

If our cycling gear is starting to look "dorky" even to us cyclists, then we're all in trouble.

No good can come of it I tell ye!

no, Actually im not in that photo. My training partner and good friend Paulie the fixer is the guy in the cap. But he's not riding his fixed gear, in fact. He was out training on his own, and these guys were out running a team time trial. He jumped on and sh*thooked at the back for a while.

He gets a lot of flack from everyone for not wearing a helmet. He is without a doubt the best bike handler I have ever seen. He lived and raced in Europe for a while, and even raced on the track in the Pro Am with Zabel and Muessew. He wore a leather hairnet on the ride this morning, just to cause more controversey, ahahahaaaaahaaha..

We all know that being the best bike handler in the world isnt going to make a difference in a lot of crashes, and yes he should wear a lid. But it is his own choice.

I was looking at family photo albums last time I was at his dads house. He was a member of the wolverine sports club. There is a photo of about 30 guys and girls all posing with their kit on. Only one person in the photo is not wearing a helmet. He looks over my shoulder and says "See, even when I was 8 I didn't wear a helmet"

- hmm... i found a great source of inexpensive bicycling caps (about US$0.98 ea)...

- the only problem is that they say "Lowes" or "Home Depot" on them...

- you can find 'em in the paint section of these home improvement stores... if you go to a paint store, you can get ones that say 'Glidden' or 'Sherwin Williams'...

- what's nice is that they keep my bald head from getting sunburned, and i don't have to worry about soiling them with greasy hands (disposable)... used one today in fact on short test rides after doing some brake cable adjustments on an MTB and finishing up a 105 rebuild/upgrade on my $500 Specialized Allez Sport...

- oh, and nice and lightweight, so i keep one in the seat bag...

p.s. it's bill up for me...

i think my blue campy cycling hat is wickid cool and i can't wait to wear it around town and to the beach this summer. i think it's an honest to god fashion accessory, definitely the only part of the entire cycling clothing which is totally sweet looking.

I'm going to buy a black one next time I'm in the LBS.
