I've been using Firefox for about 6 months, and I just clicked on IE by accident today and was BAFFLED by how spamtastic it's become even in that short span of time.

I like my Safari, but everyone thinks it's a browser for kids. I think they get it mixed up with Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego.

Firefox rules! I hate going to work and using IE  . I downloaded Firefox to my PC at work, only to have IR (IT in the rest of the world) erase it as a virius!

firefox was great for about a day, untill i realized that you had to download about 3 plugins for everything single page you went to along with it not being very compatable with microsoft products and websites.

Amen. I liked it for the pop up blocking. Now IE is just as good.

Why would you want to look at Microsoft websites anyway? :D

Sure, there's a few pulg-ins to download at first, but you've only gotta download each of them once. Firefox & Safari > IE

what i love is how firefox blocks popups so well. I dont know how they do it but it works really well! I got the google popup blocker with IE and i still got many popups and it blocked things i did not want, this rarely happens with firefox

I'm digging firefox which is installed here at work, but with it some of my online bill-pays can't go through. That's the only issue I've found with it so far.

that's because sites are ie inclined and aren't properly coded, that's not firefox's fault. That's a ****ty web host.

Like you don't have to patch IE constantly. The Firefox themes and extensions practically update themselves.

Amen. I liked it for the pop up blocking. Now IE is just as good.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Keep telling yourself that. I have the ability with Firefox to completely eliminate ads and images that I don't want from appearing on webpages.
Firefox gives you so much more control over your internet experience

i have not had to download a plugin for a couple of months. And like Raiyn said, with IE there are always these security patches you need to download.

You are aware that they released a new version of Firefox recently right? Download Firefox 1.0.4 (http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.4&os=win&lang=en-US)

Pretty funny. I like firefox, but I don't like it when I try to go back when I'm on bikeforums after I edited. It's pretty rough.

Other than that one thing, it's beautiful.

Just a minor refinement, so yeah. Mostly it's stuff that the average user won't spot

I normally like cutting out the crap on my computer, but I'm afraid with bikeforums and a lot of other sites, I've become addicted to all the pretty colors.

Man I can't believe there are still people today that DON'T use FireFox.

Well, there's also Opera and Chameleon. That screenshot, though, can only happen in IE, and only with a really stupid user (or some geek with too much time).

On a tangent, I'm trying out the alpha of the next Firefox release (nicknamed deer park). From a user interface standpoint, there's nothing new worth talking about. Just a few bug fixes and the new "sanitize" button, which isn't really new so much as renamed and relocated. I

Opera uses the IE based engine right? still several flaws, right?

Deer Park is the codename name for FF 1.1 until it comes out. The big news is CSS 3 support will be underway.

There isn't a lot of new stuff for end users, just a couple new buttons.

For Developers though, it begins much more support for CSS3, mmostly complete CSS2, some new java support and more in tune with HIG. Basically some fresh UIPorn for everyone.

Why use FF? Two words Tabbed Browsing. Ie has anounced a new browser (InternetExploder7) this summer. It will have tabbed browsing, but supprise -- NOT EVEN CSS2 compliant. Come on, $70,000,000,000 and you can make a browser that complies with web standards from 1998.

I like FF for the web developer extension. I constantly use it to mangle my standards compliant pages so they will render in IE too.

No... Opera is its own rendering engine and everything. Maxthon and Avant use the IE engine... as does Netscape 8.0 (it uses the FF engine in some cases as well)

The full CSS2 support and beginning CSS3 support does nothing for developers, though, until a significant portion of our visitors can support the new options. And since Microsoft refuses to be "forced" (what the heck?! that is the term they actually used) into accepting new and very useful standards, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Tabbed browsing is a good idea, but it's not what sold Firefox to me. It's the clean, fast rendering (try using a scroll wheel in IE. Ick!) and the goodies like syntax highlighting in the code view, easy cache and cookie management, the DOM inspector, and that awesome Page Info thing in the tools. I don't mind the bookmarks toolbar or the popup blocker, either. Someday I'll break down and try Opera so I've got a true competitor to compare Firefox to, but I'm not in any hurry.
