I spent a long weekend in Portland, Or, then went to Bend,Or. east of the Cascades and about 3 hours SE from portland. Two most civilized places to both visit and ride. Bike lanes, courteous drivers and perfect weather.AND drivers STOP for yellow lites......a rareity where I live
In Bend I found a great consignment store called Second Season Sports, was looking for some stuff for my trip to Kili in September, found what I needed and the place sells used bikes, reasonable, and had a great condition folder for way under 100$. I didn't need it so didn't buy it. If traveling near there might be an idea to stop and look

Glad you made it up there. I absolutely love Bend. Incredible scenery, warm, dry, and outside town there is the most wonderful fragrance from the juniper and pinon pine. For amenities there are fabulous mtn bike trails, wired coffee houses, and the Deschutes Brewery, home of Obsidian Stout and Black Butte Porter - what more could a person ask for?
