General Cycling Discussion - Baby wipes!

Not bad for wiping down a bike, and you can get them cheap at the market, local one has them 2 tubs for $4 or something.

I can't believe how gunky a bike can get, some kind of fine, black, junk all over the thing. Like a fine fine powder. Car-tire residue?

Wiping down a bike this way is clean, can do it indoors like I just did, and you get to look closely at parts on the bike, if there are loose spokes or a wonky something, you'll catch it.

I carry some in my saddle bag for injury/greasy repair clean ups. I like the bike cleaning idea, but I think I'll stick to a damp rag, followed by a dry one...

They're handy for a lot of instances.

I took some on my cycling trip to India a couple of months ago. They came in handy when I needed to 'westernise' some very non-western style toilets. While the locals can manage to stay very clean and hygenic without toilet paper, it's not something I want to try. (There are some places I just don't let my hand go.) :)

I buy these all-purpose wipes at the Dollar store. Not baby wipes, but they're moistened with orange (scented) all purpose cleaner. I discovered they're great for cleaning my bike, since I live in an apartment and don't get to hose it down.

I also like those restaurant wipes, the ones in the little envelope, to take with me on rides. WHenever I can get some of those i grab a few. They're ideal for things like if you get something in your eye and don't want to touch your eye with your sweaty hands, or if your hands get sticky or greasy from fixing something.

They're also good for quick touch-ups under the pits!

Those cultures are usually very meticulous about only using the left hand for.... you know.

If you carry then on the bike you can clean your hands after an on the road repair. Also if you are commuting to work and have no shower, you can use them to clean off a little sweat before putting on your street clothes. Possibly good for a cut or road rash too?

Then they use the left hand to do everything else, open the door, type on the computer keyboard, etc etc etc ...
