I was riding along a trail by a reservoir and the chain started skipping. So I got down to check it and gear was jammed with fishing line. I thought it's going to be hard to get them all out but didn't take that long.

So are fisherman biker's new enemy?

Just the opposite IMO. I had three of them stop and help me remove the chain from my spokes & hub using their "special" pliers... They were from SC too, which I thought was even more unusual. Out of Townies helping a Local.... Go figure.

I've got a tiny branch wrapped around my gears, and that's about it.

the most thats happened to me is branches stuck in the gearing, luckily it has not caused any damage to components thus far. Ive had a leaf go through the circuit of the chain though, some of it at least.

Don't know. Most people fish and ride here. No issues that I know of.

All i get is either sticks, twigs, or some grass caught in the derailleur.

I don't think fishermen are bikers new enemy, heck, I go fishing all the time.

If they really wanted to hurt you they could have strung some clear 30lb braided line across the trail.

Actually I've had this happen too, back when I was a kid. Managed to get it wound up and knotted behind the freewheel on my old ten speed.
I have the distinct impression my old bike mechanic always looked forward to when I'd bring in my bikes. He'd always find a new way that a kid (namely me) can make a perfectly good bike non-functional

So what you're saying is that the bike mechanics are working with the local fishermen to mess up our bikes for added business and peaceful fishing? ;)

Not quite. I was rather distructive without meaning to be as a kid. :D
