Just as I was rounding into good shape, too. Yesterday afternoon as I was riding the Tulsa Tri bike route on my Yamaha FZ-1000 to get the lay of the land, two kids on mountain bikes swerved onto the highway and stopped to chat with two friends in a car. Right in the middle of a 65-mph two-lane highway. I tucked the front wheel ina panic stop and boom! down I went.
I'll be able to to start riding again in about 6-weeks the doc says, when the 9 stiches in my grossly wrecked knee have healed! Bummer. Missed the Route 66 in El Reno today and the Tulsa tri next Sunday. Oh well. I'll heal, though at 54 it may be a little slower than I like. Not much call for 3 hour Oly-distance triatletes anyway, even if they are 54.
BTW: I'm not a newbie to M/C's. Probably have about 300,000 miles on them since 1967. NEVER been without one since high school. Stuff happens. They are not "self-stablizing" vehicles.
Be careful out there. Bicycles fall over, too! (Oh, I had on a leather, leather gloves, heavy boots and an HJC full-face helmet, even though it was 90 degrees.)
