I am considering getting the '05 kona fire mountain over the trek 6500 now what would you guys/gals upgrade on this bike?

Why dude, why?

Don't buy a bike to upgrade it right away, unless it's a high end bike. If you do it this way, a lot of the upgrading is wasteful unless you have an alternative bike it can be put on. If you have money to upgrade, say $200, spend it on a better bike then the Fire Mountain. May I suggest the Cinder Cone?
