My rear axel is snapped in two -- is this something I can buy, or do I need a complete new hub now? It's an older Campagnolo 6-speed hub. What should I pay for a new axel from LBS?

Should be able to buy an axle and replace it, depending on whether there was any internal damage or bearing loss. Should just be a matter of getting the right axle length.

I had a snapped axle on a Raliegh Record Ace once. I don't remember the hub maker, but a spare axle from an old Schwinn hub went right in and solved the problem.

You need to get the correct length and thread. Check the campyonly website for some NOS (new-old stock) campy dealers.
