Touring - Devinci Tradition

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm still looking on the internet for a used bike for loaded touring without much success. I'm interested in a Trek 520,Sequoia,Fuji,Janis or T800. I need a 54 cm prefer 24 speed and STI shifting.
I found a 2000 Devinci Tradition listed on the internet however I do not know much about this brand. Anyone have any experience with this brand.

I saw some DeVincis in a bike shop recently and was impressed. They are apparently made in Quebec. I have never ridden one nor talked to anyone who has, but my first impression was a nice looking bike at a good price. I have no idea what models I was looking at.

I have a DeVinci Patriot MTB ('98). I was looking at their Caribou (http://www.devinci.ca/english/toucyclo.html) but unfortunately, the top bar is a little too high for me (get a Gunnar Rock Tour custom instead). Overall their bikes are pretty good. The components are average and might be worthwhile upgrading to something a little sturdier (if you're as hard on your rides as I am when touring).

I considered the Caribou when shopping for my bike but opted for steel instead of aluminum. Their bikes look very good and well designed, I especially like the way they moved back the disk brake on their touring bikes to accomodate all types of racks.

I am not sure of their touring line but I ride a Devinci podium with campy components and I love it . Very responsive so if the line holds true the touring lines should be just fine. I have only seen the Caribou and the Destination and they look good.
DeVinci's are in fact made in Quebec they are great bikes both of my sons ride them. My youngest has a full suspension mountain bike, and the oldest a hardtail. The older one is a big and rides hard and has used his current frame for 5 years. The quality of the welds are great and the company is good to deal with. DeVinci deserves to be better known in the rest of Canada and the world. They are very popular east of Toronto.

These two are riding Devinci's. Can't be that bad. :) Depends on the particular bike.
