View Full Version : Funny motorist encounter
I was out with my college cycling class today riding back towards school (they actually recruited me to teach it--suckers) and as we are crossing a road, I'm letting the students lead to learn about paceline, drafting etc, so I was dead last and just kind of "sweeping" the group. Anyways, as I get across, I hear a car window go down and I'm thinkin' great... another bonehead comment. Instead, I hear a young female voice yell "NICE ASS!!! HOLLA!".
Just thought it was a nice change from the daily "sidewalk" and "fag" comments.
Oh, and my g/f has declared I sure better not "holla" :p
Haha, that's great! It's funny you mention that because I've gotten waved by a few young female passengers too. Some wave, and some shout a comment as well. That's another one of the many perks cycling offers, lol.
Yeah it's great to see your post. It's definitely a change from the typical comments you'd normally get from stupid drivers.
This exact thing happened to me in my first week of commuting, I was hooked from then on : )

So a woman yelled something at me today as she passed me while I was riding downhill about 30 mph and she was probably going 45. I was far out into the lane that was too narrow to be shared. I figured maybe I was finally getting one of these "get off the road" comments, but couldn't make it out. I was able to find out when I caught up with her at the next light....
me: "What did you yell at me?"
she: "La Jolla Shores. Where is La Jolla Shores?"
me: "Oh!" (and I gave her directions)

Yeah I've had a few comments like that myself.
Makes cycling seem so much more worthwhile!!!
Back in my days as a pedicab driver... I used to hear it all the time...
Especially after humping up a big hill.
:D
