General Cycling Discussion - Looking for spinning bike

Just back to biking a week ago, and I'm looking for spinning bike to get back in shape, and also for coming winter. I've been research a bit on google and this forum, but most of threads about spinning bikes in this forums are 2, 3 years ago and I would like to an updated about those spinning bikes out there.

So far I've found:

1. Spinning Fly Wheel (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58104&item=7160973163&rd=1) on Ebay, I think it's super cycle, never heard of it, it's good or bad? Price is about $250 buy out.

2. Schwinn Spinning Bike IC Elite (http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/spo/77445886.html), $500 at Craigslist.

3.
Lifefitness 9500 HR (http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/spo/77131314.html), not exactly spinning, but I like the durability of it, sell for $550 on Craigslist.

4. Star Trac spinning bike, found on google, not sure how it is compare to Schwinn.

So far those are a few brands that I know of, what do you suggest? Any advice please?

Well, there are two generic bikes that I don't know, but if they're generic, I wouldn't trust them. Anything generic doesn't tend to last longer than a brand name.

Between Schwinn and Star Trac, they're both good bikes. I think Schwinn will give better customer service because of the crazy warranties I've heard with the Start Trac bikes. But both bikes will give you a good workout.

I actually have both: a Schwinn Spinner and a Star Trac JG Elite Spinner. They are both very similar and I have not had any problems with either one.

I purchased them through my health club as they update their spin bikes quite often. I know that "Big Fitness" in Rhode Island refurbishes and sells spin bikes at a semi-reasonable price. I highly recommend that you contact your local health clubs that offer indoor cycling and see if they forsee selling their spin bikes in the future. My health club has 30 bikes and each time they update, they sell them at either $100 or $150 each just to get rid of them. Can't beat that!!

Of course I have regular bike, but I don't like trainer and want seperate tool. Thanks for the help guys. There are lots of health club in my area, I think I would check them out.

They lower price to $450 on Schwinn IC Elite, and it's almost brand new as they claimed only use for 10 days (link in first post). I'd buy that to avoid the hassle to research if it's a good price. Thanks for the evaluation of Schwinn Spinner.

But there is no review nor I could find anything here, need an advice before making this purchase please. I have no idea what's the model of that one.

I'm not sure if I'm making the right decision to buy either one of those.

Fixed gear/track bike + trainer = Spin Bike

Keys Fitness makes a couple nice options for a good price. The "IRONMAN". Also Multisport brand for less expensive prices.

Do you just want an indoor bike you can ride for fitness, with no concerns about customer support or how long it will last for rides? If so, just pick the cheapest one you can get and ride it into the ground. Otherwise, it's pretty much a choice between startrac/johnny g and schwinn.

you're right, I want an indoor bike for fitness, but $300 is not cheap for me, that's why I want to research a bit about it.

Anyway, I just bought the Schwinn Spinner IC Pro for $400 (google shows $799 is the lowest), the original price was $500, it's almost brand new, not even close to 10 times used. The trip to Soho Manhattan was crazy with traffic, but I'm so happy now. I tried it for 30 mins and loved it, very sturdy but has the feel of riding a real bike.

The only problem was I have pay attention not to stop whenever I like to like in the real bike, because the spinning wheel is still spinning, and this doesn't have meter to measure speed/candace. Overall, I'm happy, thanks for the help.
