General Cycling Discussion - let's have a pity party for me...

Well, I came home from work yesterday, after having picked up a case of beer, and was pressing down on my seat checking my tires (I had gone through a bad glass patch). I couldn't help but notice, looking down on my bike, that the seat tube was cracked *all the was around* where it attached to the BB. :eek: Since I bought my (steel) Voyageur used a couple of months ago, I thought I was screwed, and prepared to buy a new frame. However, Curtis, the owner of the excellent Via Bicycle shop on 9th Street told me he would repair it for free ("I stand by what I sell!"), so I was very grateful to be spared the expense. Doesn't appear to have been rust related. Curtis f*****g rocks!

The thing is, now I don't have a bike until next Thursday. I have been living for my rides, and very excited about doing my early morning 30 milers, as well as not depending on public trans for my commute. I will now try not to go crazy waiting for my baby to come back... *sob* ... :(

My advice to you? Drink heavily.

You gotta have more than one! My backup is a beater, since I don't have the space, time or money for two nice bikes and a beater.

Lemur seems to have a good idea. It says thank you to Curtis and helps to anesthetize the pain of post biking depression.

Another great idea - he's getting married over the weekend, and my brother loves his beer and single malt scotch. Methinks I'll pick up some Glenfiddich Special Reserve, or a case of Bass Ale... or perhaps both... as a "gee, thanks"/"congratulations" present. :D What a guy!

I just googled it... tried it a few ways... not getting anything. Perhaps it's an obscure film reference?

Continue to buy beer, get 3 bikes from alley or dumpster, combine parts till you have one working bike, enjoy beater love. :)

Ah, ok. I was thinking of the brand 'Voyageur'. It was sold in Canada, judging by the name it was probably imported by a Quebec company.
