One of my athletes just bought some speedplay zeros from performance bike. He is new to triathlons and so he came to me and asked what the best tri shoe would be for these pedals. I told him I didn't know, but would find out. I was thinking the Louis Garneau Tri Air. Can anyone help me out?

i don't think any one type of shoe is best for a certain type of pedal. It's better to get a shoe that fits his foot shape best. I don't know a lot about tri shoes, but look st the specialized and shimano carbon models, and i think sidi has a nice tri shoe as well.

that's right. he should get a shoe that fits best.
i however use sidi's T-1 on Zeros. i'm really happy with them, but then again i don't have that much experience with different systems and shoes to really be able to say what "good" and "bad" is...

I have Louis Garneau Tri air shoes, other then the ring that holds the strap breaking and having to get them replaces, i am happy with them.
I'd suggest trying as many sifferent shoes as time and temperment allow, feet being such widely varying things as they are.
My first pair of cycling shoes, i bought largely on recommendation of another rider. They hurt like h*ll.
I now use Sidi T 1s - they are the most comfortable pair of shoes i own.
Good luck!
