Does the new C'dale have braze on's for a rack? I doubt it does, just hopeful. Thanks,

It should. If not use a seatpost attached rack system.

Our tandem buds down the street have an '05 C-dale, and I'm pretty sure it has the fittings on the seatstays for a rack. However, the rear disc brake will complicate rack mounting. They use a seatpost-mounted rack on theirs.

I am now on my second seat post mounted rack as although I have the fittings and holes for a normal rack, I also have retrofitted disc brakes, and cannot use the conventional pannier rack. The reason I am on my second post rack, is that I went too cheap on my initial purchase. It did work for a year, but was not man enough for use offroad, and literrally fell to bits.

I could not find it this time, but Trek made a seatpost mounted rack that had supports to the seat stays. It looked stronger than most, but being in my usual state of not wanting to open my wallet very far, I went for a cheap one instead.

Old Man Mountain (www.oldmanmountain.com, i think) makes a pannier rack that will work with your disc brakes. One version attaches to canti / v-brake studs. I think they also have a version that mounts to the frame.

Yes,the dropouts are threaded, and the monostay has bolts in each side..There is also a bolt under the monostay for a fender mount.Tire clearance is huge, well into the 40's.

I picked mine up Thursday.I was in the bike shop Tuesday, they called and C'dale had it,and a local guy works there, and brought it in his wagon to the shop late wed..The tubes are huge-I have an old C'dale road frame for a trainer bike and it makes it look anorexic. The boom tube is 2.4" in diameter.

I was stunned by the tire clearance-I may get a set of ~45mm knobbies and takes the kids on some light mtb trails.

We did test riding for C'dale in early 80s and were riding one of two prototypes they had. Rode it for 3 months, . . . and compared to the new C'dale singles out at that time, the tandem tubes were 'Humongous'!
C'dale took another 2 years after that before they produced the tandems and then available as a frameset only.
Enjoy the ride!
