Can someone direct me to the forum rules? I had a post deleted because someone thought it might "offend someone." Gee, if that is the litmus test then i think half of the posts on here should be deleted.
EIther way, i am a rules man. Show me the rules so I can comply. For that matter why can't i find them? How can someone comply with the rules if they can't find them?

To find the rules, look up the definition of the word "subjective." :D
I don't know where they are but I did learn you can't use the words National Geographic and saggy b**bs in the same sentence. :D

I'll admit that my post could possibly violate this policy. I don't feel that stating there were dark complected people with saggy mammories in National Geographic is vulgar. As a matter of fact i think we all know that is a factual statement.
National Geographic must not have considered it vulgar either or they wouldn't have printed hundreds of those photos. EIther way, i will give you the benefit of the doubt. Tie goes to the moderator.
However, I think there are a few thousand others that need to be deleted. Esp. on that asterik part! Looks like there is some house cleaning to do. Good Luck!!!

I believe your description was construed as a sexual/ethnic stereotype, and was offensive.
Although your response was successfully witty, most attempts at humor involving a somewhat
critical physical description of the person/group who is the target of the joke will offend somebody.

It is perplexing why some people choose forums like this to climb onto a moral high horse. If I make a crack about dark complected women with saggy breasts in National Geographic then some take it as an oppurtunity to be offended.
The ironic thing is that the same people would have probably chuckled had Jay Leno used it in his monologue. I think the more intriguing queston is why some people pick internet forums as a place to seek righteousness and moral superiority? Wouldn't church be a better venue?

Here is a post where the poster is talking about smoking illegal drugs. There are actual pictures of the paraphanalia used to smoke it. Is that offensive? How many times do people get called retarted or "retards" on this forum. What if I have a retarted child? Might i find it offensive?
THe point is that if you are going to censor people for being offensive, than you better get busy Mod's. You need to be consistant, don't just censor people that mention people with dark complexion. Keep out all of the obscenity!
Again, i was told that my post was deleted because it was "offensive." That is a ridiculous reason to delete a post. Everyone is offended by something. If it is vulgar, that is one thing, offensive is pretty hard to define. IF you are trying to be fair!

I find those cheddar potato chips to be very offensive. And that Smirnoff ice is pure @#$%.
Just let it go. If you are not in the little click of the select few you will get your posts deleted for the smallest little chance that someones feelings may get hurt.

As a black woman, I am offended by your post, Ranger. It is in poor taste, racist, and ignorant. Such a response like this is a violation of the forum guidelines.
You want rules? Refer to the forum guidelines you agreed to abide by when you registered with the forums. Joe Gardner owns this website, it's privately run, and he wrote these rules as to people's behavior. If you can't live with it, that's your problem. But to start a thread to defend your racist comments? It's obtuse.

Ranger, you don't think your "joke" was offensive? Well, come to MY neighborhood, and tell that joke at the corner bar. But, bring your medical insurance card. Your type of humor would not go over well around where I live.

I am not going to get into debating racism with you. I appreciate that you are a black woman. Considering that, perhaps you could tell me EXACTLY what was racist in my statement. It is factual that there have been "dark complected" women with saggy breasts dipicted in the National Geographic Magazine.
Go to your local library and check it out if you don't believe me. My original post had to with childish humor. There are things that little boys find humorous that never seem to lose their humor in adulthood. A good example would be human flatulance. It is stupid but it is still funny. Don't believe me? Wait till the next time grandpa lets one go at the THanksgiving dinner table.
These pictures from our childhood memories of the females in National Geographic hold the same type of humor. Just like the fart, there is nothing really funny about it, yet we all laugh. The subjects in these pictures were from all sorts of various tribes all over the world. No, dark skinned, does not just refer to black people.
And who really cares what color they are? Heck we laugh because they are naked and the breasts are saggy. Not because of anyone's color. Get real. I am not racist. I have five family members who are black. Two of them are my nieces.
For everyone else's sake I am not going to debate this any further. For my own sake, i felt the need to defend myself. Carry on!

Bollocks. Ok, I'll try to do it without cruelty and on a level that, hopefully, one might understand.
That skit, while not one of MP's better ones, displays a certain nuance that when pondered on a deeper level, exhibits all of the qualities of true humor. (Admittedly, it is better seen live and the only reason I posted it was because, after all, this is a bike forum).
Satire is also a form of humor, albeit on a deeper, more political level. For example, Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" lampooned the distaste the British held for certain aspects of Irish society and he absolutely skewered the Brits for it. If you have read this, or plan to, you may notice the very subtle manner in which Swift deftly toed the thin line between satire and simple unwashed humor. The difference? Swift was an Irishman.
