I was out biking around yesterday and noticed someone was selling a road bike in their front lawn. I have been wanting to build up a fixed gear road bike for a while now (mine now is a mountain fixed/ss), so i pulled over to check it out. It was an older bike, not sure exactly how old, but still in decent condition. It had horizontal dropouts. The brand name appeared to be Vista. Has anyone heard of that brand? Are they any good, or at least worth the $20 that they are asking for it?

The bike is probably from the 1970s bike boom. They were sold by several bike distributors and were intended to compete with the likes of the Schwinn Continental. They were heavy and bullet proof.
and likely heavier than your mountain bike

Can you find something from the early 80s with 700c wheels and working brakes for $100? I bet you can and you would be sooo much farther ahead.
