I just started recently and really enjoy it. I've been looking for some good online resources/forums about it but there's so much crap out there to sift through I haven't been very successful. Do any of you have sites you frequent often about it?

I've been doing Yoga lately myself and while I'm obviously no expert it has helped tremendously in terms of flexibility and recovery. I used to be stiff for a few days after hard rides but 1-2 yoga sessions and I'm back to near normal.

As for sites, I think it's one of those things that need to be physically seen and learned. maybe once one gets proficient can they start refining thru books or online resources.

Yes, so I can fall with awareness and sensitivity. :p Actually, I practice to improve my upper body strength and balance for mtnbiking. Hubby does it for lower back flexibility. He sures whines less when he's been practicing regularly.

We use a variety of Rodney Yee and Brian Kest tapes.

Oh forgot about the relaxation and breathing benefits.

Plus oddly enough whenever I'm asked to close my eyes and concentrate on breathing I always picture myself on the bike on some long winding climb....

I've been practicing yoga daily for the over 3 years. The only web site I go to is yogajournal.com. That's usually to find poses to help alleviate a problem and general reading. I've used Gaiam and yoga zone DVDs to learn from.

I practice Hatha Yoga and took an orientation to instruct acouple of years ago and really dig using it to stretch my I/D cycling classes after a good ride. Cycling has a way of tightening you up in your ROM the strength and stretching is priceless-Not to mention the breathing that is so important too.

Yoga was actually my first attempt at fitness. As of June 23rd, this year, I will have practiced every single day for one year. It's become an integral part of my life. I recently added cycling to increase my cardio activity. They're a natural pair.

In fact, I did my first century ride today (braggin' a little) and found myself doing some twists and cat/cow and neck/shoulder rolls while riding. It really seemed to help. Maybe someone needs to write a book about doing Yoga while riding!

I also use yogajournal.com pretty much exclusively. They have a nice, free e-mail newsletter that I like, too.

I like this one:

It's got fantastic photos of all the postures ordered by name. Very nice.

I had been doing yoga 4-5 times a week. I have been triathlon training since January and the yoga has fallen off. I need to get back at it. Yoga is fantastic and is a great complement to all sorts of other sports and exercise activities. The best (and very hard) yoga DVD I havd found is actually MTV Power Yoga. Wow, what a work out!
