:Little Intro:Been Riding for just about 3 years now. This is my first FS. Ive owned a M40 and a Moab..

Ive just gotten my 04 Stumpjumpr FSR from the shop about 2 months ago, now that i have a feel for it, I want to go at some larger things. I guess i wanna know from you guys what you think that it can handle. Im not looking to do some huge 8 foot drop, just some smaller 4 and 5 foot stuff on the local trails. The dude at the bike shop told me its not gonna hold up if i take it at those. I kinda am not believing him cause It looks stong enough to me. Like i said, this is my first FS. And right now it tapped me out buying it, so i cant really afford to fix major problems..Anyone seen what some one else has done on one of these and how well it held together..OH yea, I got mammoth rims on it, so bending rims is not an issue anymore

The frame should last if you are a light weight, <150lbs. If you are a clydesdale 200+lbs get a new bike ;)
If you fall in between there and are smooth on the landings it will last for a while also. If not then I say again, get a new bike.

Your biggest problem will be the fork and shock. The air shock on that bike is not really designed for multiple drops over 3'. The fork is also not designed for hard hits either.

This is a problem a lot of riders have. They go out, buy a nice fs then realize they have made a bad choice. Not in getting a bad bike but in getting the wrong type of bike for the style they will eventually end up riding. It even happens the other way, some one buys a nice freeride or dh rig and then realize they only want a trail bike or xc bike.

Woah woah woah, a 5 footer on a a Stump Jumper? Don't think so. The Stump Jumper is an XC trail bike. Taking it too often off 5 footers will definitely kill it early. You want a more burly bike. Sorry dude :(
