well i just got back from the week long state FFA convention in moscow, idaho. I was competeting in an event called agronomy that involves the Identifying of plants, seeds, and insects. My 4 person team took first in the state and thus we will get to represent idaho at the national FFA agronomy competition at the national FFA convention in Louisville, kentucky this October.
this is quite the opportunity for me sence winning a state competition is extreamly hard to do considering schools from all over the state send teams each year to compete. There were about 100 kids competing and my overall individual score was 5th.
Congrats!! Keep those spuds healthy dude!! Good luck at the next round.

Well done. Good luck with nationals in the fall. Don't forget to stop at Joe's Crab Shack while you're there.

Congratulations on a job well done.

Very much congradulations...
I to years ago was in FFA and made two trips to national convention to represent California in contests. The first was in prepared public speaking when I won the state competition in 1998. In 2000 I was the president of the state winning parlimentary procedure (parli pro) team, the first year they went to the new format.
Funny thing is here in California I competed in vegetable crop judging, which is simular to agronomy (do not have it here in California) and I placed in the top 10 at state. I have my state and national FFA degrees and actually have enough hours to teach FFA at the high school level.
It is quite an accomplisment, you should be very proud.
BTW any questions about parlimentary procedure? I am designing a website on the whole idea and rules of parli pro... should be good!

Ahh, figures. The year I went was the first time it was in Louisville. The spot probably hadn't gained quite the popularity.
Our advisor was really big on touring the places we visited in our free time. At nationals, we took off for a day and saw the Wild Turkey distillery (http://www.wildturkeybourbon.com/nest/distillery.htm) and the Labrot and Graham distillery (http://www.woodfordreserve.com/story3.asp), as well as the Opryland Hotell (http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordopryland/tour/gallery.cfm) (incredible place) in Nashville. I know distilleries seem like a funny thing for a school group to tour, but they're pretty interesting, and they are agriculture related. :D
And of course, it's almost inexcusable to go to Louisville and not see the Louisville Slugger museum or Churchill Downs.
