does anyone know if these racks are any good, or what the weight rating is on them? they're much cheaper than than tubus or blackburns but seemed pretty sturdy when i was in the store today. the salesperson didn't know squat however. i'm not a camping tourer, but i would want to be able to put panniers on it and take my clothes and spare parts for credit card touring with it. what do you think?

Topeak products generally are very good in my experience. I have a Topeak rack on my touring bike, but I am uncertain of the model -- it's the tubular alloy rack with the extrusion on top for the trunk bag Topeak also makes. Personally, I think they are next down only to Tubus.

No, I would have thought that Thorn racks made from steel take this spot and then perhaps Blackburn. I can't reconcile paying the prices Tubus demand so stick with Blackburn and haven't been let down yet.

Fair enough if you can get Thorn. Both Topeak and Tubus are readily available where I live.
