Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Every Saturday This Summer! Sf Crew..

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Am thinking this weekend meet up should happen every saturday this summer. the roller skaters have the pad at 8th ave and fulton on sunday, so lets take saturday. we can hang out, learn new skills (like nunchaku skills) see what everyone is into, enjoy some sun, hava portable sound system. and when a big enough group forms, we can all go for a ride. Lets see how it goes today at noon. peas

Mmmm. Rollergirl.
Or... do the rides in the "Short Bike Rides" book.
I'm sorry that I missed sunday! trying to make this a once a month type event would be great!
We met up on Saturday at the roller-skating spot, but it's hard for me to hang at one place like that, I always want to get out and ride.
Sounds like a plan! The rollerskater spot has some nice pavement and no (few) rollerskaters on saturday.
Benches and some shade. That could be a fun permanent spot.
The panhandle has a nice spot too east of the basketball courts. Both spots are nice and close to beer, and bbq.
well, we still have a keg from the picnic, should we drag it out to the roller rink saturday? noon seems a bit early for most, lets try like 1pm. sound system, freestyle, till we are full of liquid courage. then we can do a ride from the short ride book. thoughts?
sounds perfect! I'll bring along my little weber for some barbecutioning to go along with the beer.
Whee, sounds like a good time. I probably won't make it :(

This makes sense, but I think we should try and do a little riding. Those rollerblading kids have the friday night skate where they meet up downtown every friday and cruise around the city. Maybe we could switch up between a ride one week and tricks/chilling the next. Thoughts?

there is a messenger party this afternoon across from freewheel on hayes
i dunno davey, those messengers play kinda rough!
I just got back from freewheel. The party was just a keg. Not a bad party!
gf's out of town and I'm itching to ride . . . anyone mind if a newb tags along? Are people still getting together tonight?
I'll be there around 9:30 probably...
Took on the Marin Headlands today . . . Headlands 1 - Me 0. I wanted to do it without stopping, but only made it up about 3/4 of the way. A few times I thought I was near the top only to round the corner and see the next climb. I guess I'll just have to try again in a week or two. Has anyone made it to the top non-stop with something comparable to a 48x17 setup?

Yikes brakeless! I was nervous enough with only a front brake and myriad of clueless tourists pulling on and off the road. The bridge, full of Blazing Saddles rentals, was another story.

A few weeks back a bunch of us were crossing the bridge on a SUPER windy day. I was having trouble fighting the cross breeze, and was literally blown away by it (pardon the pun)
So as I'm crossing one of the towers, I see the chick leg down on her mountain bike after she stops with the other foot still strapped in...
A crazy gale shot up and blew here right over (still strapped in on one side) into two other people legged down next to her.
I felt bad for laughing.

Anyone want to ride to the Mill Valley Bike Swap?
http://www.craigslist.org/nby/bik/79930101.html
It starts at 10am so I figure meet at the GGP Rollerskating area at 8:45am
and roll by 9am to make sure we get first crack at the deals.
Anyone else interested?

if anyone goes you should get out there a little early so you can cheer me on at the turnaround of the double dipsea. there's a good chance you'll get to see me barf too, and what a treat THAT will be!
They probably won't have the NJS pedals, saddle, and seatpost I'm looking for, so I'll have to skip.
Henry, I still have your pump.

Dude, good luck with that. Are you doing it geared?

Yes, geared. Old La Honda and Tunitas Creek Rd would be knee busters on a fixie.
They're tough enough at 39x23/25.
