So I cracked my bloody Voyageur frame last week, sending me into a psychological tailspin that could have resulted in my death by next Thursday, when I was to receive my fixed bike. Well, the awesome guys at Via Bicycle, who sold me the bike used two months ago, decided not to repair the frame, but replace it and move the parts over... and they're still not charging me! What an awesome shop! I had no warranty of any kind, but they won't take money from me... and NOW, instead of getting it THURSDAY, I'm getting it TODAY, so I can do my 60-miler tomorrow! :bday:
I'm beyond excited. They are replacing the frame with one from a Voyageur 11.8, which should be a bit lighter than my 1990 frame, but still plenty strong for my large bod. I've decided to make it my good-weather, long ride bike, and for commuting/wet or snowy weather I'm going to Frankenstein my old Specialized Crossroads Cruz (a 1993, heavy-ish chro-mo non-shock hybrid). I need a new rear wheel for the Cruz, as some scumwaffle stole it, and I'm getting 1.25" slicks plus drop bars put on it, as well as having it thoroughly cleaned and tuned. My Freddy Fenders will fit on it no probs, and I'll give it my rack with a little tweaking - and in winter, since it has 700mm tires, I should have no difficulty finding some studded tires for snow, whereas the 27" wheels of the Voyageur would have presented problems.
Whoo-hoo! :D
