I have to say, this forum hits on all the killer topics. I ride a trek elite 9.8 hard tail...it's the fastest bike i have ever come in contact with and the control is excellent. I ride most downhill trails with a buddy of mine who rides a tricked out Kona dually and i can beat him down 9 times out of ten...why? well i do take some harder hits then he might, but i have much more control and feel for my bike. Thats what you get from riding a hard tail. So all you riders out there sportin the hardtail, you guys know whats up. Peace out

If there comes a day when you do go dually I am sure you will be faster still. Your skills will generally surpass riders who have always ridden a squishy.

Hardtails definatly build more skills than f/s. I learned all my slow speed skills on my old Trek 7000.

This might sound old school, but if a person really wants to get good at mtbiking they should start on a hardtail and then progress to f/s

I only ride hard tail. I just like the feeling better. I feel that i can feel the trail a little bit better. A friend of mine let me use his f/s and i didnt like it half as mich as on a hard tail.
