I didn't see this thread and just started posting away in others, I feel really rude now.
Anyway, I'm based in the UK and love all types of mountain biking, although as I start to get older I'm finding that it hurts more when I bail, and that it takes me longer to get up, so I'm pretty much sticking to XC and shying away from DH. My fiancee has recently taking up the sport as well so she's a calming influence when we're on the trail together.
