Hello everyone,
I am a road cycling fan currently working and living in France. I have been check out this forum for quite a while and the saine atmosphere here is quite enjoyable.
I have been riding for quite a few years, out of necessity at the beginning and out of pleasure nowadays. I have 2 bikes, a Peugeot for commuting and a Decathlon 9.2 equipped with 9 speed Ultegra and Dura Ace for hammering with cycling friends and participating in 'cyclosportive' (amateur racing in France).
Don't know why exactly, but like a lot of cycling buddies, I like to suffer on a bike especially on long and hard climbs and because the French Alps offer quite a variety of mountains, it's quite easy to be in a whole lot of pain. :)
Happy riding everyone. Cheers.
:)
mmm... :D Grenoble, I love that place.
I lived there one winter (on Ile verte). Couldn't afford a bike, found a frame in a dumpster but never got it on the road. I would love to live there again sometime.
cheers....

p.s. Are those Dechatlon bikes any good? I used to look at them at the stores but didn't know anything about them.

Merci!

Ile verte is very nice, you were not far from the 'La montée de la Bastille' that has 20% gradient at times!
As for Decathlon bikes. They are getting better and better. The professional racing team AG2R (not in the ProTour but participating in Tour the France this year) are using them and last year Cofidis used them also. The 9.2 series (mine) use Dedaciai 7003 aluminmum with custom Time fork. I really like the bike because I find it quite nervous when I am in shape but it's another story when I am not... :) One thing for sur is that it's much more rigid than my steel Peugeot. I have never had a carbon nor titanium bike so I don't really have that much base of comparison though.
Cheers!
