I have been an avid follower on Bike Forums this past winter/spring. After 9/11 I started spinning classes as a way to help me deal with stress/anxiety. That led to my first bike since I was a girl, a nice hybrid that I adored. Onward to my first sprint triathlon (Danskin series) and my first full tri as a biker on a relay team. Well, you can't keep riding without dreaming of a road bike, and my husband surprised me this past Christmas with a Specialized Dolce Elite. I love the bike and after having years of back/neck issues I'm amazed at how comfortable I am when riding. I've put over 600 miles on since March. The last few weeks of nice weather I've been able to ride 100 miles per week. Tonight I'll be joining a training group for long distance riding with the culmination of the Maywood 100 in September. This is a fabulous ride and fundraiser for Maywood Enviromental Park. The ride goes thru the beautiful northern Kettle Moraine--lots of great hills. As a plug for the ride Bicycling Magazine listed it as a top ride a few years back, and it keeps getting better and better each year. l've ridden the 65 the last 2 years and look forward to doing my first 100. So this is also an invitation to ride the Maywood Earth Ride, great terrain, good food, sag support, incredibly well organized and a lot of fun people. Come ride with us!
