Mountain Biking - I rode my bike this weekend, in the woods. (pics!)

I don't ride my mtn. bike much. got out this weekend and checked out a forrest I'd never been to before.

Some nice trails.

Hey! What trails are those? It looks a bit like Big Finn Hill or The Beav.

Man I would like to ride some where like that. Its all desert mountain with small bushes and cacti everywhere on my local trails. They're fun but the sun beats down hard with trees to provide shade. Hopefully a couple of friends and I can make it out to a near by forrest and ride there for a weekend.

Sure would be nice to ride some where that the foliage is green ;) With trails like that I am surprised you and your friend(wink, wink, nudge, nudge :p ) do not ride there more often. Looks like a nice easy ride that can be fun for even the more experienced rider.

Looks like you have some pretty beefy tires on your bike, not a lot of frame clearance for mud, but it looks like you don't get as much mud as us east coasters do. Or maybe you do, who am I to say :p. Thanks for the pics.

Great lookin' place... Looks alot like Pisgah Forest where I ride.

We have one place that I call "Fern Valley". It is literally covered with huge ferns completely layering the forest floor.... Awesome! Love those "Yearling" hemlocks regenerating the forest too! Can anyone tell that I'm a Sierra Club member yet?

2.4 or something is my tire size. the frame is a Diamond Back Sorrento. it came from a sub $300.00 bike. I actually have some pretty good clearance in the back. I don't have a problem with mud, but then again, I only ride mtn. bikes about 4 or 5 times a year......

It's in the state of Washington, USA. The forest is in the Seattle area. Actually it's closer "roadwise" to Tacoma although geographically it's probably closer to Seattle proper. There's a large body of water in the way. As for a non-suspension bike in these types of trails: they actually handle "better" (track straighter and tighter) but the ride might not be as nice. I tend to think this is true for any trail as long as you pick good lines on a full rigid.
