Here are some pics of the hill I play on. Part of the Black Mt Ridge in San Diego. Topographs show that it's 1000ft above sea level and drops too 100-120ft at the bottom All in less then 3/4 mile (roughly 45* slope decent):D

That looks fun...
And YES it's VERY FUN. I usually session that hill twice then ride something less fun.

Wow... you're using a Bruiser 1 to enjoy that...

How much were the disc upgrades?

Looks like some off road excursion on a DH rig there might be lots of fun if ya put some time into building a track up..

Yup this bike kick ass. I've been using it for racing SuperD down the side of Snow Summit. The rim braeks on the first race I did there left my hands crapping 1/4 way down the trail. I picked up the Avids from Beyond Bikes (2 miles from my house) before the next race. The front 8" was $90 and the 6" rears were $70. They came with the adaptors needs, I just had to buy some new cables. I also swapped out the stock 45mm 0* rise neck for a SuperGo DH stem, 65mm with 5* rise. And got a Answer 2" Riser handle bar. Helps my knee clear the shifters when climbing out of the saddle, I'm kinda tall for a filipino...6'2".

The pitures don't do justice on how steep this is. I have to put my seat all the way down with my ass well over the rear tire. No front brakes can be used on the top section or over the bars I go. Half way down I can use the front bakes to help get me to the line I want. Two fingers on the rear lever and one on the front so I don't panic and hit the brakes hard.

:eek: Dude... You're a Filipino too?!?!? Awesome... I know what you mean. I'm 5'8" and I'm the tallest person amongst my cousins. :D

I'm seriously considering a Bruiser because its been a while since I've done anything fun...

The hill looks great, and its definitely steep, but 900 feet in 3/4 mile is only about 13 deg slope average (a 45 deg slop would go up 3/4 mile in 3/4 mile...)

this is how I calculated

grade = vertical_climb / horizontal_distance

grade= 900ft/3960ft

= .2272
grade = 22.7% grade roughly

I think that trail needs more random boulders and logs. Needs more rocks and ruts.

inv tan of (900/3960) = 12.8degrees...

Now if it went down in elevation 3960 feet in 900 feet...that would be super gnarly!

I guess all the web site I googled on finding the grade were wrong. Oh well.

Your % grade calculation is correct, but kritter has the correct formula for degree calculation.

It's still a steep hill, and I'm sure there are steeper sections. That'd be great to have in your backyard for training. I hate having to load up my bike and drive somewhere fun to ride.

Damn, I wish I still lived in San Diego sometimes instead of Atlanta. That looks like a lot of fun.
