Mountain Biking - Mountain Bike Brand Database

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking for a list of companies that people recommend. I couldn't care less about a company that is run by 4 people but noone likes. I'm looking for companies that people here actually recommend, or that have a good reputation

A company that is run by 4 people often makes better bikes than a company that uses robots to make everything. Also because of the fact that it's so small few people are going to know about it which leads right back to the popularity contest. You're selling yourself WAY short

thats irrelevant. people still use trek. people still use specialized. why? because they're good, and people know that. thats what i'm looking for. you don't get the point of what i'm trying to accomplish.

That's not what your list tells me. Just because a lot of people ride a certain brand doesn't mean they're that great. Hell more people ride Pacific and Magna than any other brand.
You pretty much confirmed what I've been saying the whole time. This thread is a popularity contest

okay, and why do you have to say that? can't you just leave this thread be?
and besides, your argument is moot, because i'm sure that people here wouldn't recommend Pacific and Magna for their mountain biking, unless they intended on commiting suicide.

What about Azonic, I dont know a website but didnt see it on the list.
why don't you two just PM eachother...

Actually it isn't. People who don't know better will swear their POS Magna is the best thing since sliced bread. I'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN. By not includng the small time operations you're selling yourself WAY short.
For example Sycip (http://www.sycip.com/) makes awesome bikes but has anyone mentioned them? No! It's a popularity contest.

You don't need to. Between the two links you have virtually all the quality companies out there. The second link actually is a bit more MTB focused

They're not all mountain bikes, but this guy put together an impressive list of tandem frame builders. Many of the custom builders build mountain bikes.

I didn't realize Hot Chili was still around. They were pretty hot in Germany when I was there('93-'97). My buddy had a copy of one. You're doin' good when you have counterfeits of your stuff made, right?

Man, huffy is so ghetto, they don't even seem to have pictures of their bikes on their site.

"Features like multi-speed shifting systems and optional shock forks enable this bike to handle all types of terrain."
Exactly how the hell did I ruin it? I contributed TWO links to pages that have links to the VAST MAJORITY of the bike companies out there. Just because I didn't contribute to the stupid popularity contest doesn't meant I ruined anything
If you think anyone is going to click that link with like 50 links per letter of the alphabet you gotta be crazy. I certainly wont use it for any info on good bike brands.

It seems, if you make parts for MTB, you probably make a frame.

Thanks for posting Strong Frames, that's a great site. I really enjoyed the frame-building tour. They obviously take great pride in their work, as well as the machines they use. Those old lathes, gotta love 'em. I could almost smell the machine oil!

Let's see now.
A virtually complete database of brands that's easy to use
vs.
A random list of "popular" brands that doesn't tell you about HALF of the quality brands out there.
You think I'm the crazy one?
