Hi,
I am looking for experiences of women who have tried riding rode both the mens and the WSD version of Trek 7200FX. The geometry is the same for 7000/7100/7200/7300 (FX/non FX) etc, if anyone has any experience on those, I would appreciate that too.
Could you share which version you actually found more comfortable, and for what reasons?

Are you SURE the geometry is the same? When I bought my Fisher hybrid I test rode Trek 7200 (2004 ... maybe 2003) and a 2002 7100. I thought there was a difference in stretch between the men's and women's. The step-through felt like the handlebars were closer to the seat. I liked the more stretched-out (not much stretch mind you) position on the men's model even though I'm a woman (fwiw). I didn't spend a lot of time on adjustment on these ... maybe they were adjustable stem differences or something. I found the Fisher an infinitely better fit for me. And I did get the step-through for riding in skirts.

Maybe the huge difference was on the Cypress??? It's been a couple years. But, since no one had answered you yet, I thought I'd jump in.

It should be pretty easy to measure on the bikes themselves. Ride them all!!!!

I'm not sure Trek makes a WSD version of their hybrid bikes:

I am not a woman, but I just purchased a Trek 7200FX after extensive research and help from this forum. The bike is great and my wife (who is 5'9") likes the bike and may also purchase one. She prefers the men's version to a step-through.

One other thought...I have heard that some bike racks have trouble accomdating the step-through models.

There are adjustable, clip-on tubes available for $30 that she can buy to use when transporting the bicycle.

Actually, you can get one of those tubes for closer to $20 at a Trek dealership, among other LBS.

I just started another thread about this, and what makes WSD specific for women. I am looking at 15 inch frames and would like first hand opinions also.

My understanding is that the geometries are like this:
7x00 = 7x00FX (non WSD)
7x00FX WSD is not a step through and is not equal to 7x00. There is no FX stepthrough.
7x00 Ladies stepthough is not equal to either the 7x00 or 7x00FX. There is no 7x00 WSD - just the Ladies stepthrough.

is this your understanding also?
