I went ahead and bought an $800 full suspension bike (got it on sale for $550 since it's last years model) it's a schwinn rocket 2, has shimano deore 8 speed shifters, deore lx front derailleur, deore rear, truvativ isoflow crank, hays mx-2 disc brakes, marzocchi mz comp 100mm travel fork, fox vanilla rear coil etc. On paper it was a great deal, but what everyone on here was saying is it would be dreadfully heavy, and they were right. I wouldn't really mind except I'm only 5'5" 135 pounds myself so for climbing hills I need as light as I can get. Would there be anything stopping me from buying a hardtail frame and tranferring all the components? (minus the rear shock of course)

There would be no major factors, as along as you knew what you where doing. But have you tried returning it?

Waste of money. Take it back, get a refund and get the right bike.

second that. The problem with getting a frame, is you'll be limited to frames that will fit the parts, i.e that fork/steerer height that is on the bike right now.
