I just joined this forum and need your help. I have not owned a bike since college, which was 10 years ago. Back then my mountain bike was a simple one, no suspension front or rear, no lightweight frame, yaddah yaddah yaddah. Needless to say that in a decade bikes have come a long way.
My wife and I are now looking to get back into biking as a way to be together and start getting back in some semblance of athletic shape. So I stopped at a local bike shop yesterday, and they have a used 2004 Raleigh M80 for sale for $400. It looks basically brand new except that the seat does have some wear on it. There are some upgraded parts, but since I've been out of the bike market for so long I don't know if they are blowing smoke up my you-know-what or if they're being straight with me.
If the bike was completely stock, had no "upgrades" from a hardware standpoint, and the paint job looks brand new, would $400 be a good deal? I looked on the Raleigh USA web site and it shows the 2004 M80 to be in the $700-1,100 MSRP price range.
