Since I began riding last summer I have not used the drops on my Trek 1200
and because of age and injuries probably never will. So, I am considering
changing out my bars for TT bars and want to know if anybody else has
done this and what your results are and what pieces and parts you used.

This is strictly for comfort and I am a recreational rider, and yes I know this
will have a large 'Fred' factor.

TT bars? Does this refer to clubs where scantily clad women dance?

Are you talking just the bull horn bars, or bull horns with aerobars? I'm thinking that jsut the bullhorns would be good for you, with a suitable stem length so that your reach to the levers are the same as on the hoods of drops. You will not have any problems mounting STI shifters to them.

If your talking Flat Bars, I have a set on my road bike (strictly recreational rider) and find them much more comfortable than drop bars.

I can adjust mine hrough about 60 deg, but find that the more upright position comfortable as I have recently had heart surgery.

You can make TT/bullhorn bars by flipping over the bars (horn side UP) and cutting off bars at desired point with hacksaw. Voila, cheap TT bars!
You'll need to reposition shifters/brakes toward underside of bar, but it works.

Thanks for all the replies. I will probably go with the Profile Design Stroker
bar. One poster has sent me pictures which make it appear doable at
minimum cost. I will try to use the drops a bit to be sure it is a move I
wish to make and I may ride a bit by myself before I go on any group
rides 'cause it does look a bit 'Fred'.
