OK I need a new handlebar mount for my TrailRat 2.0. The one I have is broken and needs to be replaced. So I call my LBS, they have to order it. When it arrives it will cost $50 plust tax. For a dumb piece of plastic. WOW.

I was wondering if anybody knows any cheaper way of getting a mount.

Or

Is there a really, really good glue out there that would do the job on the one I have. That would probably save me some money.

Any suggestions????

Try JB Weld. It's a two part epoxy that works great on plastic pieces.

Go and find a good slow dry epoxy. Some can hold up to 10 tons! I think that should be strong-enuff!

What part is broken? The part where the light slides into the mount or the part that clamps around the bar?

If it is the clamp portion epoxy may not hold.
You could try a zip tie around the bar if it doesn't hold.

If it is the slide portion and the epoxy won't hold, maybe you could glue the light assembly into the mount.

Sounds like your bike shop got something wrong in the translation. Unless you are talking about the light housing (body), there is no way that mount will cost you $50 for $100 light. Contact Nite Rider direct at http://www.niterider.com/contact/cu_nr-tech.html
They sent me the interface bracket (bolts to the body of the light so you can attach to the handlebar mount) for one of my lights for free. Handlebar mount should run about $10 US I believe. Price and parts list should have come with your light.

The part that is broken is not that clamp that goes round the bar. It's the part that the light slides into.

I have put some glue on it and I am going to test it to see how it holds.

No joke about $50. It's Canadian funds and they told me because they have to order it and blah, blah, blah. I agree it sounds expensive but I don't think I will have to go that route.

Thanks all.

Contact Niterider direct, they will take care of you for much less than $50.

I tried the 2 part epoxy route w/ my broken part, didn't hold up to the rigors of off road riding for very long.
