Yesterday I was in a mood to take a longer route home, so I took a different route than usual. The building I work at is in a business park with lots of 2 lane roads with a turn lane in the middle, dotted throughout with median islands with trees growing out of them. The median islands range from 20 feet to about 60 feet in length before opening back up into a turn lane.

I was going down one of these roads, up on one of the median islands (not sure what they're called), and I hear a horn behind me: a FedEx truck is letting me know he is coming up behind. Well, there is no room for me and a FedEx truck when passing by one of these islands, so I move out and take the lane. He honks again and then keeps honking. I pick up the pace a little bit to get passed the island to let him around. Do you know that he came up around me anyway!!!! Scared the sh*t out of me.. I was cussing him out big time. Geesh!

The irony of this.. I received a call from UPS after I got home to come in for an interview for an application I put in. This has to mean something....

Get the license plate number and complain to FedEx?

That UPS thing is a really wacky coincidence!

Good luck with the job interview! One more UPS driver who knows how to share the road is a good thing! :)

Yeah, that's what I should have done, but I was too pissed off to even think about getting his license plate. I was trying to catch up to him and tell him off, quoting the law that a bike is a vehicle, too, and would he try passing a slow moving car in the same situation.

[VC Voice] You obviously didn't take the lane properly. You should have been in the left 1/3 of the lane. Clearly its all your fault. [/VC Voice]

My advice: Let the wookie win.

I was exactly in the middle of the lane. I didn't believe he would force his way around me.. geez.

In this case, if I was in the left 1/3 of the lane I believe he would've passed me on the right!

If I get hired by UPS and drive a truck.. I may look for that FedEx driver and... well... see for yourself
