he doesn't have a friend, and I will be afraid of him making me his friend, with that kind of money who needs a friend...

what I was saying"don't buy the bike" , unless you want to be a sucker
Contrary to what everyone else is saying,
this might not be a bad deal.
couple of questions
What type of Fork? Reynolds Ouzo pro? wound up?
they are still fairly expensive.
DeRosa is a respected, well established builder
who's frames can be very pricey.
what model frame?
frame material?, Steel? Aluminium?
Reynolds or Dedaccai tubing?
The mix of ShimaNo and Campy is "interesting"
(this should drop the price, not a full gruppo)
The seatpost and pedals are ok
again, what models they vary in price.
the shoes are a throw away (who wears
someone else's old shoes?).
I'm not sure from your post if you're interested
in buying the bike, or just pricing it to sell, a clarification
would be helpful.

Im intrested in the bike and just wanted to get some opinions.
the Fork is Kestrel
Colombus slx tubes (steel)
Thanks Josh
Josh,
Ok here's my take on this.
DeRosa makes a fine frame. The SLX tubing
was Reynolds top of the line at the time
(not sure of the dates but heavily used in
late 80's early 90's).
A brief internet search came up with a
1985 De Rosa, SLX tubing, campy super record
components for $1800.
Some additional thoughts.
Although I'm a bit of a retrogrouch
(I like Nuovo Record stuff) I don't know
about 10 year old shimano. If its campy
I can fix it, not shimano. Wait I just reread your
post, shifters are new. How about the Derailleurs?
is this shimano 8 speed or 9 speed?
cassette or freewheel?
like I said toss the shoes (keep the cleats tho)
and offer him a bit less.
Classic Italian steel, to me there
is nothing better.

DeRosa made good frames in 1993. This is 2002.Condition is everything. How a bout a rusted out BB shell or fork droouts?SLX was good enough stuff in 1993,bu this is 2002.I have seen better deals on similar frames with matched current components. The non-issue fork would be considered a negative my many.Saw a similar De Rosa frameset that got no bids on e-bay at a starting bid of $300.Frame was excellent and seller was reputable.
