mountain bike or racer bike?

i would like to buy a bike.But im nt sure if i should buy a mountain bike or a racer bike.any suggestions or recommendations?

Where do you intend on riding and what's the "purpose" of getting the bike (e.g., commuting, road racing, riding trails, touring, etc.)?

When you say "racer bike", I assume you mean road bike? And yes, knowing what you intend to do with the bike will help us answer your question more meaningfully.
