Im thinking about riding in this time trial thats 24 miles. I have a nice Bianchi road bike that I use for commuting and saturday 12 mile rides. I do ride hard and hit as many hills as possible during my rides for conditioning. However, 24 miles - what should I eat a few days before and what should I eat the day of and during. Another question, are the riders positioned according to there skill level. I dont want to hold anyone up, I can average 20-23 on most rides on my own - this is in the flats. Thanks guys/gals

For the TT you would need to work on your handeling skills if you would like to get a quick edge without any physical training. Being able to make sharp turns at a high speed is a helpful skill, as is positioning you body flat on the bike on downhills for aerodynamics. Where tight fitting shorts and jersey. Glasses are usually helpful. I don't know about a water bottle for that distance. I would drink atleast 10 oz of water an hour for 2-3 hrs before the race. Dont drink anything 30 minutes before the race to make sure there isnt any unnecessary fluid inside of you that would hurt your performance. Water bottles add a couple of lbs and wind resistence. So Id go against them. I don't know much about carbo loading, but it seems to work for me. Lets say your race is on Saturday. Tue, Wed and Thu you would eat as little carbs as you can. Then Friday and saturday morning, load up on the carbs. This way your body will absorb more than it would normally do which gives you the advantage. 2 hrs after a ride, your body is very effeceint at absorbing carbs. Your can store alot of energy for the next day by eating high carb foods after a days ride. I suggest a 1 hr ride the day before, nothing that drain you, but enough so u can take advantage of the 2 hrs after along with the carbo loading. Hope this helps!
