I just went by a local powder coater to talk to him about doing my frame. He told me the price would be $110. That seemed a little high but the big thing was that it would take 4-6 weeks. Is this pretty standard?

Thats what I said. But his answer when I asked why so long was that he had to wait until he had several things to coat that were the same color. That dosen't seem right to me. I could understand that logic if he was discounting it or something but I am paying full price.

I recently paid $70 to get a frame powdercoated. It took 4 weeks. The powdercoater was super busy and handles orders in the order they were received. The bike looks hot now though.

everytime i see about having a frame done it's always a long wait and i never end up doing it. i've had shops tell me it would take 8-12 weeks before. that's way too long. even 4 is too long.

Thats about right. On average its about $100 for 1 color and the wait time is about that long. A frame is easy to paint and doesnt take that long and thats the good and bad of it. They arent going to do a set up just for one frame unless you hit a powdercoater during a slow time.

My buddy had a frame and fork done at midland metal finishing in Minneapolis. It was $45 and they had it done in less than 24 hours. They don't do blasting, but rest assured that there are places out there that will be happy to do your frame in a much more timely manner.

Sycip in No. Cal does it over the weekend. Drop it on Friday pick it up on Monday. At least thats the way it was about 6 months ago. http://www.sycip.com/
