Only a few bucks here and there. I think the biggest bill was a $5.

Last month, a jogger found ~$1500 off the side of the road. He picked it all up, and took it to the police. It was on all the news stations and local papers, nobody climed it. After 30 days, the police gave the man all the money back.

I was on my normal root and found $40 out side of this lady's house. so i rang her door bell and then out come some 65 yearold lady. I told her that i found the money on her lawn. The lady then told me to keep it, she said that i would get better use of it then she ever would. So i road to a GNC and got some gel packs and took the rest to my LBS and got some new gloves!!! in total i would have to say i have found a total of ~$120.

I see 4 quarters embedded in the asphalt at an intersection every night on my way home.
Haven't bothered to dig it out of the soft asphalt yet. But if the economy doesn't improve soon I may have to. :crash: ;)

$20 on the 5 Borough Bike Tour day. I considered to option of asking all the bikers (about 40,000 people) very briefly, then I figure that would be a silly waste of energy.

:D So the money was used for

I've never found anything but broken car parts and useless tools. Maybe I should change my route to a more urban area.

Wow, that's a really touching story. Maybe she was an angel of some sort. If I were you I'd drop to visit her once in a while.

In 1995 I found $3000...of course this was the money I would have spent on car payments, gasoline and insurance had I kept my truck. :D

Seriously...just a few coins here and there. Nothing much.

During the summer of 1975, I was working at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife in Newport, Oregon. I bicycled to and from my rented trailer up the bay, about 10 miles one-way. I was riding home one nice evening when I spied a $5 bill laying beside the roadway, so I stopped, turned the bike around, and walked up to the bill. I reached down to pick it up, and it jumped away from me! My neck hairs got all prickely, and goosebumps showed all over my arms. Then I heard the giggling from the bushes nearby. Presently, two boys showed themselves, and one was holding a fishing pole. The bill had been tied to the pole with light fishing line, and when I went to pick it up, the young "fisherman" pulled lightly on the pole. He didn't make any noise, but the bill must have jumped about a foot and a half. It really scared me; you know that "fight or flight" response had taken full hold for a moment. Then, the giggling followed by laughter. I broke up too. It was one of the best tricks ever pulled on me.

Enjoy,

John

A car overtook me on a wet day and what I thought was a leaf hit me in the chest. I looked down, and there stuck to my chest was a £10 note (about $15 in colonial money).

I don't know if it came from the car or from the road, but was a welcome addition to my trip.
