A couple weeks ago I posted about getting somewhat screwed on a warranty by Kona. They were out of my size in my bike and so I was given two choices each of which would cost at least a couple hundred bucks. Then on Tuesday my frame showed up and I went from a Kikapu frame to a King Kikapu frame. So Thanks Kona

Casey

:D...glad it worked out, but next time don't jump the gun to complain. Poor form to be honest. Kona does a really good jobmost of the time :D

How did I jump the gun to complain? I was told I would have to fork over a great deal of cash to get movin again. And if anything I was just trying to figure out if this was common.

Did you ever find out if it was Kona that said you needed to spend more $$ or the shop? Glad to here you got your frame already. Is it built yet? How do you like it? Be sure to post first crash photos :p

madbiker- I didnt

Dirtbike- I finally got everything in working order today. Iniatally I had problems with the headset so I had them throw a new one on there. I also put a new deraileur on because I had an incident 2 months ago and I had been putting it off.

I dont think my shop was trying to screw me because they did nothing but hook me up throughout this whole process and I didnt even buy the bike from them. To have the whole thing put back together it cost me 2 sixpacks of beer. When I buy my Rig next month I am most definately going through them.

As for Kona, I emailed Ed, their warranty guy and he responded early in the morning on the Monday after I sent the email. He said he would just send me the King Kikapu frame. I dont know why they originally wanted to charge but then gave it to me with minimal arm twisting. Seriously I sent him an email and I offered to pay their cost on the new shock but he said he would send me the better frame.

So basically I am happy and I put in about 20 miles today

Was there some miscommunication originally? Anyway, sounds like they took good care of you, good luck!

Agree, Kona is good in terms of customer service. I sent them an email couple of days ago, asking for advice, since the LBS over at my side sucked on that big time.

They replied to me readily, and are very patient, even though I have further clarifications, considering that such emails does not generate a direct sales for them, unlike the LBS over at my end, showing potential customers a "what is your budget" attitude and calling themselves a "concept" or "hobbyist" mtb corner.

Considering Kona's professional ethics, I am bent on getting my Kona Cinder Cone very very soon....

They can pretty much mark me down for a Jake the Snake once I get this roof issue out of the way

If I could build a stable of bikes then the Jake the Snake would be bike number 2 after my dedicated MTB.

Sounds like he is going to buy one these, http://www.konaworld.com/shopping_cart/FrontEnd/Products/product_detail.aspx?productid=74&parentid=182, once he gets the roof on his house fixed. Just me guessing.
