Road Cycling - Lemond Zurich question

Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying a used Lemond Zurich (can't afford a new one!) but I can't figure out what year it is. The owner says he thinks its a '99, but I know the frame colors of '98-'02 Zurichs and it doesn't match any. I have an email out to the Lemond people but I'm not holding my breath! Also, their website is useless for this question. So, if anyone knows what year this Zurich is PLEASE let me know, I would be very appreciative. I can only go by the frame colors, because components are not stock.
The frame is ALL blue (not dark, not light), except the actual letters on the decals that say LEMOND which are yellow. The rest of those decals are either transparent or blue.
any general comments or experiences with Zurichs would be welcome too.
Thanks,
Brain

I think it's a '98. I've got a 2000 model and I think that color scheme was two seasons prior to mine!
BTW, I'm very happy with my bike and have absolutely no complaints.

Maybe you are all on crack? That color scheme for a Zurich is not in the 2000,99 98 or 97 catalogues. Not to say they did not run in something that is not in the catalogues.Get the serial # and check with Lemond and get the right answer.

seriously pokey? that's exactly what I need, a bunch of old lemond catalogues. I'm pretty sure they only do one paint job a year, so that's worrisome if it's not in any catalogue going back to 97.
ps: nice bike, nut!
There are 2 model year 2000 Lemond Zurich's listed
on e-bay. Both bikes are a medium blue, solid color except
for panels on downtube and seattube (white) with decals.
Does Lemond do custom decals/paint?

That's a 2001 Zurich, unless this is incorrect: 2001 Zurich (http://www.epinions.com/bicycles_2001_LeMond_Zurich/display_~larger_image)

The solid blue Zurichs, non-metallic sort of medium to light blue, are mostl ikley 1999 models. That is a color that was offered the year before the soild White Zurichs, the Blue and Yellow (best looking of the bunch) are later probably 2000-2001. The 2002 are the Dallas Cowboys version Blue and Silver. Mine is the Red and White I believe it is 1998. The frames changed from round 853 to 853 Pro Ovalized at the BB in 2002 I think. The headset size changed then too I think. Either way they are great riding light frames, check the rear dropout alignment though if you are buying it used.
Found this, sounds like the frame you're
talking about, its a 1998

Thanks for the information, everyone, I appreciate it. There wasn't a concensus, really, but.... I found out finally. It is a 1994 or 1995 model Zurich (by memory of the original owner), much older than I had been told originally. I didn't buy it. Lotek, it looks just like the picture you have there (which I saw also on ebay!). Also, when Lemond finally answered my email (~2 weeks), they guessed 1997. Here is what they said:
Thank you for emailing us. In 1997 the Zurich was blue with yellow
lettering. The blue was darker on the bottom of the frame and faded lighter
at the top. Does this sound like your frame?
Thanks!

They must have recycled the colors once in a while, which is to be expected.
Anyway, I'm still looking and looking....

Brainplanet,
I got an answer from Lemond this morning, and they
said they never marketed a solid blue with yellow
decals frame, just the blue to sliver fade.
Their thought was that it had been repainted.

Thanks for investigating, Lotek. Well, the email I quoted above shows that they did have an all blue frame with yellow lettering in 1997, but it was a dark to light blue fade. maybe that is getting confused with the silver fade. I don't know!

I don't know if you checked out the photo I added to my post, but it looks just like it to me, including the wheels :)
