I searched the forums, but I didn't find what I was looking for...

I ride a Raleigh M50 (I think 2000 or 2001). 99% of my riding is Boston streets.

I am thinking about getting slicks or semi-slicks for my ride, and I was curious, would I also need to buy new rims? I have the stock rims (Weinmann 519s), could I just go buy slicks to fit this rim, or do I need new ones all together? If I do need new rims, as a poor college student (read: cheap = good) what rims do you suggest?

No you do not need to change rims. Get some 26X1.50 Kenda Kwests, the 100 psi versions, or some IRC Metros in 26X1.50. These tires cost around $20 bucks each.

I still run the stock Weinmann 519s on my commuter. They've held up fine for me. I plan on running them until they either wear out or get destroyed

my mom put those specialized armidilo tires on to her M60. it's doing a great job so far. they are slicks i believe. go to specialized.com and check them out. she only needed a smaller tube size.

Thanks for the help!
I ended up getting a pair of Specialized Nimubs tires because the two LBSs nearby didn't have the Kenda's. It rides like a dream. I feel so much faster, it's amazing.
