Hi,
I recently reactivated my old track bike, a Gitane Kilo, as a result of the renewed interest in single speed and fixies.
However, I am 25 years older and can no longer spin a 50 tooth chain ring. Can anyone suggest where I can get hold of a 46 or smaller chain ring for a 5 bolt cotterless nervar crank from the early 1980's ?
I also think that the BB axle is campy compatible but would appreciate knowing if anyone can confirm that before I start mixing components.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Andy

do you know the bcd of your cranks? (if not, here's how to figure it out http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html )

what kind of bb axle do you have in there, and, most importantly, pics? :)

welcome to the forum!

Hi,
Many thanks for all the suggestions and replies both personal and to the discussion group. I discovered that the nervar cotterless crank takes 122mm chain rings that are obsolete ,but that stronglite 93's will fit and are still available at Harris Cyclery. I did try a 175mm Campagnolo crank as the spindle was Campy compatible but the short wheel base made the foot /front tire overlap downright dangerous. Anyway I am using the nervar cranks and their 50 tooth chain ring with a 20 tooth cog and its Ok for for now as it gives a 67 inch gear. I have a 22 tooth cog on order and it should give me better control in traffic.
Thanks again
Andy
