I have a 1973 Schwinn Speedster on which I have installed a Sora drivetrain. I am having problems with the bottom bracket coming loose.

I have two press in cup adapters. The drive side of the BB is screwed firmly to the cup, but the opposite side is merely supported. There is nothing other than friction keeping the drive side cup firmly in the BB.

I think I need to drill holes through the adapter cups to allow the two cups to clam shell the BB.

Any other approaches you may suggest?

Would a little Loktite between the cup and the bracket work? Maybe the green stuff that is meant to hold bearings in place.

I ended up putting three SS # 10 bolts through the two sides. No problems since.

I've converted a few large BBs for modern three piece cranks, but I've always used the adapter made by TruVativ.

Works like a charm.

Thanks cruentus, I was just about to post asking if there was a conversion available. The Truvativ kit is only $24.95, seems reasonable enough..........
