I won a Benotto track frame on ebay on the 22nd of last month. It still hasn't arrived. I figured I'd have a little patience considering it is crossing the border into Canada, but I'm starting to get worried. How long does this typically take?

Where is it coming from, and tracking number?

Maine. I emailed him last week about a tracking number - he said he would check on it but has not gotten back with that information yet.

Vancouver. Major city center, so mail shouldn't be that much of an issue. Unless something came up with the border/duty, etc.

How's it coming? USPS? If so, you're not going to get a tracking number.

Don't worry though, I had a wheelset get split up during shipment. They were shipped in 2 boxes. The front took a week, the rear took a month to arrive.
The rear apparently got stuck in customs for a while.
That's my guess as to where your frame is.

Hope it arrives soon. I want to see that on the street.
Then again, now that you've posted this, you know that it's going to arrive tomorrow.....

I've had a bike shipped USPS and it only took 12 days from North Virginia to Toronto.... Get back on him.

On a side note, guess who you edged out on that auction! Excuse me for feeling smug knowing I avoided some trouble ;) I already have my Bridgestone (my impulse buy after losing that auction) built and ridden!

Frames that we send to Canada routinely take 15 days.

I've had larger packages take 2-4 weeks from various points in the US to Montreal. Stuff from Nashbar took ~25 days, and it was shipped the day after the order.

i had a complete bike sent from san diego to toronto and it took about 5 days to get to the canadian border. however, it took more than a week to get from windsor to toronto (about 380km) on the canadian side. this was by ups by the way. i'd get that tracking number though.

i had just a messenger bag sent from Toronto to DC and it was first turned back by customs, then reshipped, then held up in customs for 4 days, then finally made its way to me.

it's really hit-or-miss what gets stopped and what doesn't, but you may have been in the "hit' category this time.

Do you know why customs rejected the bag? That seems really odd.

Hmmm....aluminum tubes? Are you sure the bike frame didn't get diverted to some secret nuclear weapons program?

I used to work at a map store in Fairbanks, AK. We we frequently order maps from a bookstore in Whitehorse. It would regularly take the maps 6 weeks to get through customs and such. So the delay you have isn't entirely out of the oridinary. It still sucks, though.

If you're really concerned, give them a call, they'll tell you if there's a backlog at the moment. Do you remember, around last november that there was a 6-week backlog of parcels at the Vancouver customs location.....

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's stuck somewhere in customs. I never thought to call and ask about a backlog, thanks. I did pay with paypal. It's just a bringdown because I have a Nitto stem/bars, Phil hubs/bb, and a new in the box 70s Campy crankset to match this baby when it arrives.

I've done a lot of shipping to and from Canada, and customs delays often happen. I've been lucky with a couple orders, but I did have an order of Level Hubs take a month.
