Commuting - Only one boot

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I got my new Arkel bug the other day. Had it all set to go this morning PIC (http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=33210). Everything was very secure. About half way through my ride I had to go off the road and ride grass about 15 yards. Got to work ready to change........OMG, "where did I put that other boot." First everyone at work got a nice laugh, then I had to go back track (found it where I went off-road) , and in the end I learned a good lesson.
So, what have you lost on your way to work?
Lost a seam in my bib shorts once, ass hanging out for about two blocks. Man, that was rough. Rode around with bermuda shorts over my biking shorts for about a week (just in case), then just said hell with it. It happens :D

Lost my clothes when I hit a big bump. Luckily they were in a bag, just had to go back and pick 'em up.
Lost my mirror before I had come up with an acceptable "alternative fastening method" ($@#*@ original mounting hardware didn't work at all). Had to go back and pick that up in traffic, I'm sure several of the drivers got a kick outta that.

I lost half my rear fender on a bumpy road. Damn plastic fenders... :D
Mobile phone in long grass. Found it on a route retrace.

The bag for my folder is secured to my backpack via those bungee-link cords. I learned the hard way -- having it fall off in raging Midtown traffic -- to use straps on the bike bag as well to keep it in place!
Not commuting, but last weekend after about 50 miles of a 70 miler, I was flying into Nyack from the north, when an edgy driver spooked me into moving to the middle of the road. At 30mph, potholes come-up rather quickly, so I did a poor job of bunnyhopping the one that did right at that moment. Thanks to the disruption one of my water bottles went flying who knows where -- I pulled-up down the road, went back to look, and found no water bottle. There was nice, wide open sewer drain... I have to wonder if that's where it ended-up. Fortunately, I also had my Camelbak, so loss of one bottle didn't ruin the ride.
