General Cycling Discussion - Not all drivers are boneheads.
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been reading a bunch of articles about Irate drivers, or people who just donít look for cyclists, and yes that is true, but how many times have you had a car wait for you before they turn, or slow down behind you while you are pulling up a hill so they donít have to cross in front of you to make a turn? It seems to me that I have a lot more courteous drivers than I do boneheads. It is just that the boneheads seem to peeve us off more than the courteous ones make us happy.
Remember to wave and smile at the courteous ones.

There's an old customer service saying;
"A nice experience is a memorable experience, but when someone has a bad experience they can't shut up about it"
I'd say the same thing goes for those of us here.
*The regular joes we come across who don't affect us at all we never mention because there as just so damned many of them
*The ones that rub us the wrong way give us a reason to piss and moan
*The ones that are overly curt are so astounding that we sometimes mention them
This is just how I see it
I've had more people be overly nice than those being ******, but I've only written about 2 of the bad ones because, well, fat chicks barking at me while I'm riding is just plain funny!

Yes, this is true. This is probably the same reason why you hear drivers talking about bad cyclists all the time. They're the most noticeable.

Now you made me laugh out loud.

It's a bit much to describe somebody as "courteous" for waiting when they don't have the right of way -- it's just following the rules of the road.

Here we go with the guy who is going to stir this into an arguement.

Most drivers are courteous except the following.
1. The parent about ready to lose their sanity do to the screaming kids in the car.
2. The cell phone users who get upset over having to concentrate on driving for 20 seconds due to the cyclist on the road.
3. The teen with with all their buddies in the same car.
4. The driver that just left the dentist office after having a root canal.
