Mountain Biking - Mountain Biking in Maine

I've been searching all over the forum and internet (and have contacted the place I am staying) to find out about mountain biking in the Boothbay Harbor, Maine, area. I have yet to collect any worthwhile information. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I can go for some decent singletrack?

I suppose I am willing to drive a bit. I understand Camden might have some trails, but I would like to avoid driving a couple hours if I can. Thanks in advance for your help.

I googled it, they said it's 4 miles north of Boothbay Harbor.

I cant rember how far away Booth Bay is from Agunquit but when I lived near there we used to ride Mt Aggi(that is short for Agamentious...if I spelled it right). On the road leading to Mt Aggi there is a trail that leads to Folly Pond. Its really known mostly by the locals. The ride up the mountain is by road but the back side is a blast comming down. The ride to Folly is a true hard core-you're gonna get owned by the trail ride. I wish I still lived there...Missouri has the Berry Man trail but thats about it.

I suppose I should have mentioned I had come across Acadia National Park as an option and didn't get the warm fuzzies about mountain bike use/singletrack. I don't know if riding a crushed limestone path is worth the trip...

Anybody have first hand experience riding in Maine, particularly in the Boothbay Harbor vicinity? This is a family vacation, so I realize I have to take what I can get. Had it been a biking vacation I may have picked a different lodging location.

Doing some searching on Mount Agamenticus brought me to Dirtworld's site of recommended Maine trails (http://www.dirtworld.com/trails/traillist.asp?id=21). I'm surprised I didn't find this resource earlier.

Hey, this is pretty helpful. I'll be staying at Higgins Beach (Scarborough, Maine) the last week of July. I've been debating whether or not I should bring my bike and the links you guys provided might be enough to convince me.

Cool. I'm glad somebody else was assisted during my quest. Personally, I don't think I can go on vacation without bringing the bike.

i love maine the scenery is beautiful and there is tons of outdoors stuff to do. my kinda place. i was in acadia and it was really nice, rather mountainous terrian. if i was mountain biking when i went i would have defiantly brought a bike. hope you like it.

4 miles from BAR Harbor, perhaps. Closer to 4 HOURS from Boothbay.
