Mountain Biking - Stolen Giant Rainier
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you are proposed to buy a red and black Giant Rainier with a bicycle computer and pedal clips in the Long Beach, CA area, the item may have been stolen. I have a description of the robber who stole it from me. He is a white Caucasian, 25- 30 years old, black hair and goatee, 5'8", 180 lb., baby blue cap with white lettering.
I am not sure if this man is dangerous but he surely scared me.

Keep an eye on Ebay, the Recycler and and other places that it could be sold at. Also, let the local bike shops know. Since he took it from you he mostlikely will sell it rather then ride around.
Put a post up here SoCalMTB (http://mybikesite.com/) in the MTB messege board. A lot of locals read that site and some are in the LB area.
Sucks that happend and lets hope you get it back in one piece. Do you have a pic of the bike? Were there any modifacation to it?

I am not sure that I have pic of the bike... will look for it.
The bike has a bike computer, mountain bike pedal, rock shock seat post.
I am contacting the nearby Bike shops but I did not think about ebay. Thanks for the tip.

I hope that the cops will catch this guy too. I have a police report but the chances to recover the bike are quite slim.

This is true. I think I have gave up any chance on the bike since day 1, particularly since I did not have any record of the serial number. Talking to the cop that established the report, the serial number would have been the only chance to recover the bike.

What do you mean scary? Did he actually take it from you while it was in your possession? This may be more than a stolen bike! That is robbery! Check Craigslist and also pawn shops. Good luck to you and I hope you are okay :o . And as for the serial number, my LBS has on his computer customer info with my name, serial number, bike model, color, etc...slim chance but maybe yours does too?

If only tracking the computer by satellite was possible.......hope you get it back.

Most of them use the serial number for inventory control. Hopefully the original poster's is still in the computer.
